The Old Anchorage, Lochranza, Isle of Arran

History and Location

the castle seen from the old anchorageThis historic holiday cottage is available to let for self catering holidays at Lochranza on the beautiful Scottish Isle of Arran overlooking the sea and stupendous scenic views. Local visitor activities and attractions of every kind are a short travel distance away on the island

The Old Anchorage, built over 400 years ago as a traditional crofter's cottage, was gifted by the Duke of Hamilton to Captain Finlay Kerr, the great grandfather of the present owners, and has been tastefully modernized and extended over the last 150 years in keeping with the original design. The low oak beamed ceilings and the original ingle nook fireplace, now a feature of the lounge, give the cottage character and charm. This loch side croft, incorporates an acre of fenced land, overlooking Lochranza Castle, the Kilbrannan Sound and the hills of Argyll.

In summer, the Lochranza sunsets over Argyll are among the most spectacular anywhere in the world.

This view taken from the sea and looking towards the cottage shows the Old Anchorage in the centre of the village and close to all shops and amenities.

Lochranza lies on the north western coast of the island and enjoys easy travel by road to all other parts.
